Black Bears Advance
University of Maine- On cool Sunday November 7th afternoon the top seeded Maine Black Bears were trying to record their first ever NCAA postseason berth as they played the Great Danes of University of Albany. The Black Bears would get on the board early as Poppy Lambert would get a goal off a penalty stroke with 15:53 into the second period along with Chloe Walton would cap scoring Chloe Walton would give the Black Bears 2-1 victory to send them to their first ever NCAA berth.
Great Danes Charlotte Tiggs would score to the tie the game at 1-1 in the third period and both teams would be scoreless in the final period heading into overtime. Mia Borley Black Bears Most Outstanding Player and All Conference would record 7 saves while only letting up one goal.
UAlbany’s Lara Brehn would allow 1 goal and 5 saves for the Great Danes who finish their season at 11-9 while the Black Bears improve to 15-6 and will travel to Miami (OH) Wednesday, November 10th in the first round of the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament.
