Blue Hens 17 Unanswered Points Help in Getting the Victory Over The Black Bears

Blue Hen's #1 Thyrick Pitts finished with 5 catches for 115 yards and 1 touchdown to help the #5th ranked Blue Hens to a 34-24 victory over the Maine Black Bears

Orono, ME- Thursday, September 2nd being the first game in front of  fans for the first time in two years. The Black Bears would find themselves down 17-0 early before taking the 21-17 lead heading to halftime however would find themselves down as the Blue Hens would score 17 Unanswered points to give them the 34-24 victory to improve to 1-0 while the Black Bears fall to 0-1. 

The Blue Hens got on the board early Blue Hen’s QB Nolan Henderson scampers in for  a touchdown to give the the Blue Hens the early 7-0 lead after a R.Coe extra point.  Coe followed that up to give the Blue Hens the 10-0 lead with less than 14 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. After Maine goes three and out. G. Coleman would catch a 55 yard TD pass from Henderson to give the Blue Hens the 17-0 lead. However Maine would claw their way back as Michael Monios catches a 28 yard TD Pass from Joe Fagnano. Fagnono followed it by connecting with Zavier  Scott. Montigo Moss would block a punt in the end zone to give the Black Bears the 24-17 halftime score.  The Blue Hens would however capitalize on the Black Bears mistakes and score seventeen unanswered points to give them the 34-24 victory in the second half holding Maine scoreless the entire second half. 

The Black Bears return to action Saturday, September 11th as they travel to #2 James Madison. The Blue Hens host St. Francis University Saturday, September 11th.
