Catamounts defeat the Black Bears in AE Women’s Soccer Action

Vermont Catamount Goalie #1 Lydia Kessler made 6 saves with 6 shots on goal for the Black Bears

Orono,ME- On a rainy Thursday September 30th the UMaine Black Bears were looking to get back into the win column following their 1-0 loss to NJIT Saturday, September 26th. However, the Catamounts from the University of Vermont had other thoughts as they would go on and get the 2-0 shutout over the Maine Black Bears at Mahaney Diamond Thursday, September 30th. 

Vermont would get their opening goal by Cricket Basa around the 10:32 mark of the first half.  Maine would have chances however, weren’t able to capitalize. Lydia Kessler (Goalie) would record 6 saves to shut out the Black Bears. The Catamounts would score again at the 55:38 mark of the second half as Alyssa Oviedo would score to give the Catamounts the 2-0 off an assist by Bailey Ayer.  Maine Black Bears would fall to 2-4-2 overall and 0-3 in conference. Maine will look to bounce back as they travel to UAlbany Sunday, October 3rd.  Vermont Catamounts improve to 4-5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference. The Catamounts will next host NJIT Sunday, October 3rd.
